There are some R&D projects relating to IST and elderly in Belgium as follows:
Kortrijk Telesenior Research Project, a pilot project in video telephony: a cost-benefit analysis is being conducted by HIVA. The project is also linked to a doctoral thesis.
Living Tomorrow - the house of the future. Living Tomorrow is a vision on how people will live and work in the future. This vision is realised in the form of a "House of the Future" and based around themes such as information, communication technology, home automation, energy, the environment. The House of the Future was showcased on the 'Day of the Patient' organised by the Christian Mutuality - Solival. In this technology village, the most modern technical aids for the elderly, chronically ill and disabled persons were demonstrated. The project has been collaborating with a number of Belgian businesses and organisations that specialise in technology and technical aids for the elderly.
Ter Waerde vzw supports and promotes R&D in technology and technical aids for disabled persons.
